The GProxy years
In 2004, GProxy was founded by the visionary duo of Mario Colla and Bernardo Arnelli. Together, they embarked on a journey to revolutionize e-commerce, starting with customizing Site Builder, an early platform created by NetSuite. At that time, Site Builder had its limitations, especially in terms of design and responsiveness. Yet, as pioneers, GProxy excelled in crafting beautiful e-commerce sites, pushing the boundaries of what was possible.
Birth of SuiteCommerce Advanced
From GProxy emerged two spinoffs: Tavano Team and SuiteCommerce. Recognizing the wealth of knowledge and innovation within these Uruguayan companies, NetSuite made the strategic decision to acquire GProxy and SuiteCommerce in 2012. This marked the genesis of SuiteCommerce Advanced, the next-generation e-commerce platform.
With the acquisitions, NetSuite Uruguay consolidated its operations into two key areas: the product team and professional services team. The product team focused entirely on developing what was soon to be called SuiteCommerce Advanced, while the professional services team specialized in implementing the platform for clients worldwide.
The founding of AwaLabs
Following their tenure at NetSuite, Bernardo Arnelli, Leslie Real, Martin Prieto, and Virginia (Vicky) Fernandez united their expertise to establish AwaLabs in 2017. Each partner brought distinct strengths: Leslie, recognized as Consultant of the Year in NetSuite in 2014 among dozens of global consultants, oversaw consulting practices while working in NetSuite Professional Services. Martin and Vicky were indispensable references in every technical project, showcasing unparalleled expertise in SuiteCommerce and SuiteCommerce Advanced.
They pioneered reusable solutions, performance guidelines, and tools that continue to shape the industry today. Both Vicky and Martin were named MVP of the quarter for their exceptional contributions.

Bernardo Arnelli
Bernardo Arnelli, a pivotal figure in GProxy's journey, served as Director of Professional Services at NetSuite. He led implementation teams across industries and global markets with a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Together, they formed the backbone of AwaLabs, a company dedicated to SuiteCommerce and SuiteCommerce Advanced since its inception in 2017.
