Upgrade with a team that knows every SCA release
If you are considering migrating from an older SuiteCommerce Advanced version to a newer one, we can help.
Most of the AwaLabs team spent years in NetSuite Professional Services, from the earliest SuiteCommerce releases onward. Together we have implemented hundreds of web stores across the mountain-named SCA releases and later versions, B2B and B2C mixes, and many verticals.

How we approach every migration
- Extensions and themes first. All of our migrations follow best practices, using extensions and themes for customizations wherever possible.
- The simplest configuration that works. We aim for a setup your team can edit without calling a developer.
- Performance and SEO built in. We apply the same practices we use on new implementations, so search visibility stays equal or improves. Learn more about our approach to NetSuite SEO.
Start with a free review
If you are looking into a migration, contact us. The process is simple:
- We review what you have today. Tell us about your current version, integrations, and customizations.
- We fill the gaps. If those details are unclear, we analyze the site and code to surface customizations you may have forgotten.
- We prepare a free quote. You get a scope and estimate that fit your needs.
If an upgrade looks close to a full re-implementation, it is worth comparing with a move to a modern storefront. See how a SuiteCommerce migration to AwaCommerce Next works.
What to consider when migrating to a newer version
Every SCA upgrade touches more than the release notes. These are the areas that most often change scope, risk, or timeline.
- Commerce categories
- Older sites often still use site categories. Newer releases expect commerce categories, so taxonomy and merchandising usually need a planned remap.
- Content and CMS
- Modern SCA versions include CMS. Landing pages, banners, and editorial content may move from hardcoded templates into managed content.
- Item images
- SiteBuilder stored images on item fields. SCA maps files by naming convention, so image association and media cleanup are part of the migration.
- Website features
- Checkout options, customer self-service, and other storefront capabilities can differ by version. Confirm what you rely on before cutting over.
- URL components
- Category and item URL components may change. Plan redirects early so SEO equity stays intact after go-live.
- Variable amount
- SiteBuilder allowed a variable amount checkbox. SCA does not let the web store assign variable amounts the same way, so donation-style or open-price flows need redesign.
- Configuration record
- Older versions often hardcode settings in code. We move those into the SuiteCommerce Configuration record so updates stay safer and more editable.
- Extensions and themes
- Earlier releases predate the extensibility model. We rebuild customizations as extensions and themes wherever possible to simplify future upgrades.
Plan the upgrade, not just the release
Upgrading SCA is less about chasing the newest label and more about reducing technical debt, unlocking CMS and commerce categories, and staying on a supported path. A clear inventory of customizations and a phased plan usually matter more than the calendar date of the release.
